PEI is one of the smallest provinces in Canada in terms of land and population, which is in western side of Canada; it is one of the Maritime Provinces and one of the Atlantic Provinces. Charlottetown is the largest city and capital of PEI. According to Statistics Canada, the province of PEI has 158,717 residents. The major part of the economy in PEI is Farming.

Although it is the smallest province in size, it is one of the largest in terms of natural beauty, history, and Canadian culture. The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program expedites immigration to Canada for individuals and their families who meet provincial criteria in support of four initiatives: increased business and economic development, increased supply of skilled workers, increased population and achievement of provincial demographic, social and cultural objectives.

Skilled Workers in PEI

The Skilled Worker stream is employer-driven, allowing Island employers to fill high-skilled positions that they are unable to fill through the local job market, if you are currently employed by an Island employer.

Eligibility Skills

  1. Have a full-time non-seasonal (permanent or minimum of two years) job offer from a PEI employer in a high skilled occupation level O, A, or B.
  2. Have at least two years of full-time work experience in the past five years.
  3. Have a valid work permit to be working in Canada.
  4. Have a legal status in country of residence.
  5. Have successfully completed a post‐secondary degree or diploma (minimum two year program).
  6. Age in-between 18 to 59.
  7. Have sufficient financial resources for the applicant and family to pay all immigration costs (including travel expenses).
  8. English or French language ability with CLB/NCLC 4 or else if the employer is comfortable with the employees English or French proficiency Language test non mandatory.

There is no fee to create an Expression of Interest profile. If you are selected to apply for nomination by PEI, there is a non-refundable fee of $300 CAD which must be submitted via electronic transfer with your application.

How to apply for (PEI PNP) Program

If you are interested to permanent residency in Prince Edward Island, Individuals are selected for nomination based on their intention to live and work in PEI and their economic ability to establish here. Priority will be given to entrepreneurs and to individuals qualified to work in areas with identified skill shortages in the PEI labour market.

Skilled Workers outside Canada

The Skilled Worker Stream may be utilized for talent recruitment outside of Canada if the Prince Edward Island employer has received authorization from the Office of Immigration prior to issuing a job offer. With approval, a work permit support letter would be provided for the applicant to seek a work permit.

The PEI Critical Worker stream is employer-driven, allowing Island employers to fill intermediate-skilled positions that they are unable to fill through the local job market.

  2. Have worked a minimum of 6 months full-time for the PEI employer.
  3. Have a valid work permit and legal status in Canada.
  4. Possess a minimum education of secondary school diploma.
  5. Age in-between 18 to 59.
  6. Have sufficient financial resources for the applicant and family to pay all immigration costs (including travel expenses).
  7. English or French language ability with CLB/NCLC 4 or else if the employer is comfortable with the employees English or French proficiency Language test non mandatory.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot for Employers

AIPP designed to fill permanent labour shortages and skill gaps in your business by supporting foreign nationals for permanent residency. There are three different streams which aim to address different needs. The Atlantic High Skilled Program allows attracting highly skilled individuals, the Atlantic Intermediate Skilled Program allows attracting semi-skilled individuals, and the Atlantic International Graduate Program allows attracting recent graduates from Atlantic Canada post-secondary institutions, there are no fees payable.
